Swarm Alert

When checking your colonies be vigilant about looking for queen cells. You really don’t want to loose a swarm at this stage of the game.

I have pulled queen cells from three hives, two of which had very active queens (seen) the other was a merged hive with a queen and several queen rearing colonies (queen not seen when queen cells were spotted so could be emergency cells). Just before this, I was notified of another colony having produced queen cells.

Today 3rd October I received a call to a swarm in Bristol!

I would urge you to check your hives before the cold and wet sets in as you may go through the winter with a virgin queen and loose your colony due to dwindling numbers.

Kind regards

Adrian Wells – Swarm Liaison Officer
